My writing.

  • Novels.

    Novels are my first love!

I am querying my first novel manuscript. I write stories with female main characters who have to grow and change in order to overcome difficult circumstances. The characters in my stories are ultimately in the process of discovering and pursuing what they want out of life. My current novel manuscript was a finalist in the James River Writers Best Unpublished Novel Contest.

  • Creative Nonfiction and Short Form Memoir.

I’ve always enjoyed journaling for my own benefit. Getting my thoughts on the page is how I process life events and my own experiences and opinions.

After becoming a parent completely reorganized my life—while not living in my home country—I felt I had a story that would resonate with other people’s feelings of loneliness, isolation, and uncertainty, as well as personal triumph. Recently, I’ve been experimenting with form and structure in memoir. Hybrid and experimental forms are perfect for stories that need focus or are difficult to tell, and for finding connection between seemingly unrelated events. Plus, they can be fun!

  • Flash Fiction and Short Stories.

For a long time, I would set out to write something short, only to end up with a “chapter one” for a longer work that I didn’t necessarily want to pursue. I’ve enjoyed learning to write smaller pieces of fiction.
