I have always looked for connections. Among my experiences, those of other people, the things that lie just beneath the surface.
I have a B.S. in Psychology from the University of North Carolina (I went to a lot of basketball games!) and a Master of Arts in Counseling (in the department of Education and Professional Psychology) from Seton Hall University. I loved my counseling practicum and internship—connecting with people and helping them connect their own dots was satisfying and endlessly interesting.
As much as I loved counseling, however, it did not turn into a long-term career for me. During my husband’s Navy career, we moved nine times in nine years. I continued to write on and off, and these days, that is where I find joy in connecting things—the fictional world and the real world, characters’ experiences, plots, events from my own life: there’s always something to write about.
